Elena Osuna was born in North Carolina, USA in 1969. She grew up in Durham, NC and spent her childhood summers in Spain where she has family. She received a BFA from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1991 and an MFA from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1996. Early on she studied printmaking with a focus on artist books and in graduate school she began to paint and concentrated on realist figurative art. In the 1990s she was represented by the Kougeas Gallery in Boston. She has been a lecturer at SUNY Stony Brook in printmaking and an adjunct professor in web design at George Washington University. In 2002 she moved to Berlin, Germany where she married and had a son. In 2013 she and her family moved to Saigon, Vietnam for two years. During that time she was represented by the Vin Gallery in Saigon. She is now represented by AsiaHues. She currently lives in Barcelona.
